(More customer reviews)Very nice scope, especially considering the low price. Optical clarity is on par with much more expensive brands. Eye relief is not the best, but is passable. Adjustment knobs are excellent, even though the clicks are a little soft. Overall I would definately mount another one on future rifle purchases. Great buy.

(More customer reviews)To give you a background, I'm an action shooter who uses my Rock River AR-15 "Entry Tactical" for practical rifle shooting competitions at my local club.That being said, my goal with my AR is to continually hit inside the primary scoring circle, which is about an 8" diameter circle at center mass on a man sized target.I don't get a micrometer out to measure group size.My main goal is fast target acquisition and reliable performance.

I purchased the EOTech 5.17.A65 for my rifle and I couldn't be happier.The performance thus far has been amazing.After bore sighting, and dialing in the optic at 50 yards, I've been able to compete and improve my scores over my previous optic.To get an idea of what this optic looks like, imagine that there is a hologram floating about 25 yards down range with a red circle and a dot in the center.No matter where your eyes are at, where the red dot is where the bullet is going to travel.

This is a durable unit.That's obvious from the moment you open up the injection molded case the optic arrives in.There is a piece of steel that is "U" shaped that surrounds the glass of the optic.This guard is missing on some of the Bushnell varieties of the Holographic Weapon Sight.

I don't intend to try to break the glass, but its pretty evident that this guard is going to protect the unit from some pretty serious bangs against hard objects, and from internet videos, you can still see the red dot even if the glass is shattered.

I'll update this review later into the next competition season, but for now, I don't see any reason to not give this product 5 stars.Some may prefer the AimPoint optics, or ACOG and I respect that.But that doesn't mean that they are not all 5 star optics.

(More customer reviews)I am a proud (so far) new owner of this nifty little gadget and so decided to pen a review.Mind you I've owned it for all of two days but I hope to provide the best information on this item by keeping you- the reader informed as time goes by.
Ordering:Ordered it here at Amazon and chose the free shipping option. It shipped from California and arrived in under 10 days.Not bad considering I ordered it just before the week of Christmas.
Packaging:Arrived in a plain brown box, sealed with tamper evident type tape.Inside the plain brown box was the actual manufacturer box with the fancy logos and stuff.Inside that box were some foam blocks, etc.It appears it would be pretty hard to damage the item during shipping and handling.
Appearance:Perfect.The Humvee of flashlights. If there ever was a definition of 'tactical flashlight', this one fits the bill.I love it.
Feel/Quality:Solid.The J68 feels great in your hand.It is lightweight but has a solid feel to it. Everything one would expect.
Build:The bulb housing is the widest part of the flashlight, I guess you call it the head or bezel, or whatever.After the head is a octagonal ring that actually is a little larger than the head and from what I can tell is there only to prevent the flashlight from rolling.After that you will find the smaller diameter tube, straddled by two huge rubber O rings, followed by the end cap.The end cap houses the 'intermittent on' button.The first thing I noticed about this button is that it is not a button but a solid mounted rubbery surface.When you press it, doing so compresses the end cap of the light just enough to turn on the beam.If you want to actually turn 'on' the flashlight, you twist the end cap all the way 'closed'.This does not interfere with operation, nor does it make operating the light difficult, it just concerns me that water, dirt, or any other liquid or foreign substance may enter the end cap, i'll update this review should that occur.
Set-up:The Javelin J68 ships with two 'camera' type batteries.For those unfamiliar with this battery type - imagine a short AA battery.These batteries are readily available anywhere and are relatively inexpensive.What I like about this is that I can buy spares and keep them handy, versus having to worry about charging some proprietery battery all the time, and/or potentially spending $50 to replace a battery for a $70 flashlight.
I read and followed the instructions for battery installation - unscrew the end cap, insert the two batteries, screw on the end cap until it stops.Then back off (unscrew) the end cap approximately 1/2 turn.Again, with a rechargeable, I could have been stuck waiting hours while the battery 'fully charged', while compared to this light, I installed the batteries, and was on my way bathing my surroundings with $70 worth of LED generated light.
Brightness:This thing is super bright.I very strongly urge anyone operating such a flashlight to not ever shine it in a person's or animal's eyes.Unlike many flashlights, LED type included, this one is so bright you can still see the 'spot' on a wall in daylight.The beam or spot is not adjustable.I don't know that this matters.

Overall opinion:If you like 'tactical' gear, need a great bright flashlight, and are willing to dish out the extra cash, this is one nice light.This would make a great gift if you could force yourself to part with it.I should mention this is not a toy.Only time will tell if the J68 performs like a Humvee, or more like that of an "H3".

It is very comfortable, collapible stick is very convenient, but the stock itself is not very sturdy on the rod and is a little loose - a little flimsy.Other than that if you don't mind a little rattling its a good stock.Would suggest to spend $10-$20 more to get a higher quality stock.
