THIS IS NOT a gripe against Sportsman's Guide .

BARSKA OPTICS is the manufacturer of this product. Their part number for this riflescope is:AC10366.

In the past three weeks, I've received two of these scopes. Both were defective! Scope #1 was returned for exchange, #2 is the replacement.
The Side Focus/Parallax adjustment (the PRIMARY selling point for me) is sloppy, inaccurate, and unacceptably limited in range, rendering these scopes virtually unusable.
Scope #1: Only focused between 14.5 and 81 yards.
#2: Only focuses between 17.3 and 114 yards.
They should focus to infinity. If the problem is fixed, I'll buy several. The price is unbeatable!

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these about a year ago for $99 on sale and have had it on a few small caliber rifles although it has now found a long term home on my Ruger 10/22. You can read the specs for yourself, it has everything that was advertised.I bought it primarily to sit on a 22LR and to put holes in paper at 50 and 100yds during the daytime. I need a bit more scope than most people. It is excellent at that and I highly recommend it. While it seems perfectly serviceable at twilight, of course it doesn't have the brightness or clarity of a $2000 scope then but it looks good in daylight and that's all that I need. I've also only shot it on 22 caliber rifles so I don't know how shockproof it is, but it has been fine for my use and very stable. It also hasn't fogged even when going from AC to 95 deg. & 90% humidity. It seems to be well made and all of the adjustments work well. The only strange thing is that it has "1/8" marked on the adjustment knobs while each click is actually 1/4 MOA - maybe it's inherently set up for 50 yds? One other note if you haven't used a high power scope, put good rings on it, it will make a big difference. Here is a photo of it on my Ruger (http://www.stingersplace.com/rimfire/1022/) although I've now upgraded the rings.

Take home message, it's a great deal for the money if your needs are similar to mine.

(More customer reviews)I use this one myself on a varminting rifle and am generally satisfied with it. Having said that, the low price usually means compromise on features and quality, and this one is no different.

The good- 1/8 MOA adjustments with covered finger adjustable target turrets, very fine cross hair with center dot that doesn't cover up small targets at distance, solid repeatable adjustments for windage and elevation. Clear and bright glass at low and medium power settings.

The bad - At high power settings, particularly over 16x, the view becomes distorted and has glare, and gets worse with every power setting up to 20x.

The bottom line is this a is a pretty decent variable to 16x scope with adjustable objective for the money, if you can live with the obvious flaws with it, (with higher magnification problems limiting its usefulness). Despite them it performs well enough I am not looking to get rid of it myself.
