Lasermax Laser Sight For Glock 20/21 With Finger Groove/Rail Md: LMS1151PFGR. Review

Lasermax Laser Sight For Glock 20/21 With Finger Groove/Rail Md: LMS1151PFGR.

I think that Lasermax has a phenomenal idea, an integrated laser that's perfectly aligned with the barrel (unlike competitors who have an offset) and is easy to install without any specialized skill or tools. I swapped out the slide release, pulled out the Glock spring, and replaced it with the Lasermax in ten or fifteen minutes. First time at the range and it worked great. Accurate and highly visible; really great stuff...

So why the 1-star review?

This nifty little toy broke after less than 250 rounds on the first day I used it. The ring at the laser-end cracked, skewing it out of alignment. At almost the exact same time the battery cap broke loose and could not be reset properly, jamming the slide. When I pulled off the slide the cap popped out, flew four or five feet, and bounced another foot or two along the floor. I was able to find it easily enough, but could not get it to close and stay put after that.

Fortunately this all happened at the range. Now, what if it'd happened in an self-defense situation? Well, I'd almost certainly be dead right now. Yeah, DEAD. RIGHT. NOW. Because of the way the laser failed, the gun was rendered completely non-functional until I pulled off the slide, removed the Lasermax, and replaced it with the original factory spring.

This is a totally unacceptable!!!!

Lasermax has a completely irresponsible, unacceptable, and downright dangerous design flaw. I own several Glocks and still have the very first one I bought almost twenty years ago. I've fired over 15,000 rounds through it with no failures, issues, or problems whatsoever.In fact I've never had a failure with any model or caliber of Glock until now. This shoddy, aftermarket part caused a catastrophic failure in an otherwise flawless gun. Even though I've written five books on self defense I really don't have words to adequately express how upset I am about this. At least not without violating Amazon's reviewing rules anyway.

I will never purchase anything from Lasermax again.

Rifle Green Laser Sight. Review

Rifle Green Laser Sight.
Average Reviews:

Over all this product is decent. I use mine with a Beaman pellet gun for varmint hunting. First I mounted it on the barrel and then went back and bought a NCStare scope mount for it. The scope mount greatly improved the range the siting in was good for.

PLEASE NOTE: This product COMES WITH a pressure switch. You DO NOT need to buy the pressure switch that amazon suggests to "But together". Not only is it not the right switch, but it is completely unnecessary. Now I have an extra pressure switch I have no use for.

Things I liked about the product:
* Good distance
* The construction feels like it could take a real beating.
* Operation is simple.
* Battery life is pretty long.
* Installation is quick and painless.

Things I did not like about this product:
* Without the optional pressure switch you turn the laser off ad on by loosening and tightening the cap. Would adding a button switch to the cap have really added that much production expense? Not having a button switch really diminishes the quality of the product.
* To site in the laser you have to take off the cap on the front and adjust two hex screws with a tiny hex key. Not something you really want to do in the field. Since this laser will most likely NOT be in the place of a scope you will need to adjust it pretty often depending on exactly where you attach it; more often if it is on the barrel and a little less often if it is attached to the scope. Side adjustments, like a scope, would be a HUGE improvement. I would have paid double if this product had more convenient adjustments.
* The adhesive on the pressure switch quickly went bad and had to be replaced.

This is not a flaw of the laser, but I thought it might be useful information for people also doing varmint hunting or night time shooting. The green is so bright at night that you can barely see anything but the laser. This is especially true if you are using the laser in conjunction with a scope. If you are shooting at small animals it makes them very hard to see. The green spectrum of this laser also causes night blindness and leaves spots in your vision (THIS IS TEMPORARY like you would experience with a bright flash light). In retrospect, red would have been a better performing option for night time shooting. The red laser does not leave spots in your vision and has little to no effect on your night vision. In the day however, the green laser is GREAT - very bright and easy to see!

The product has been fun to use thus far. However, knowing what I know now about using it on a regular basis and what a pain it is to make site adjustments, I would not buy it again. It may work well for paintball where targets are larger and the range of distances you will be shooting are not as varied, but for small fast moving animals at varying distances it is not ideal.

Barska Green Laser with Built-in Mount and Rail Review

Barska Green Laser with Built-in Mount and Rail
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are 3 primary reasons this product is junk:

1.The elevation and windage screws are just set screws that puch the laser to the left or up.There is no way to return the laser back to center so I coudl never get the laser zeroed in.If you turn the set screws to the left too much, they just fall out of the housing.Even if you could get the laser zeroed in, I'm sure that the set screws would just loosen after a few shots. I guess Barska engineers forgot about that thing called recoil.

2.The laser module is also teh battery cap.So to remove the battery you unscrew the laser module.See the knurled surface on the end of the laser in the product photo above?That is so you can finger tighten the battery cap. How can the elevation and windage screws be brought back to zero if you are using your own best guess on how tight to screw on the battery cap/laser?

3.Barska customer service(Hi Jessica) is unresponsive, uncaring, unfriendly, rude, and you have 21 days to get a RMA number or you are stuck with this toy.

This laser is fine if you are some dude living in a trailer park and you want to impress the ladies down at the local bar. I guess you could use this as a laser pointer for your monthly sales report meetings and you are tired of all the red laser pointers out there.But, under no circumstances should you ever use this laser on a firearm.All you will do is mar your firearm finish and give your buddies a reason to laugh at you.In fact, if I am ever at the range and I see someone with one of these mounted on a firearm I will quickly grab my gear and leave the area.These things are unsafe if used on a firearm.
