I bought this mount for my 1952 siminov sks.I bought this mount instead of all the other ones on the market for several reasons:It does not block the view of the iron sights; it appears to be light (compared the the tri-rail mount) and it has locking screws and nuts to tighten against the receiver. When I got it, I had to file the tips until the receiver pin would engage, but I still wedge a piece of folded paper under the rear to keep it as sturdy as possible. After bringing it to the range for the first time, and being frusterated because I was not able to zero the scope, I took it home and removed the cover. This is when I discovered that the channels that are milled in the sides of the cover don't go far enough back to the rear, and the bolt carrier rails were slamming into the ends of the existing channels in the sides of the receiver cover.I had the cover machined so that the channels are milled back to the proper distance, but I believe a recoil buffer insert may have solved my issue without the need for machining.Since I don't own a recoil buffer for my sks, I can't speak for it's efficacy.Since machining, I have found the scope and mount to be an excellent addition to my sks; it definitely improves accuracy over the iron sights, and remains rock solid after hundreds of rounds fired at a time.Since I use corrosive ammo, I must remove it each time I clean it, which is immediately after each range session, so I don't use loctite on the screws and nuts, but I have never had it loosen up on me.It also seems to hold it's zero more and more with use.One other note to consider is that it is possible to tighten the screws so tightly that they bend the sides of the receiver inward so that they bind with the bolt carrier. Don't do this, just snug up the screws to the receiver, and then tighten the nuts so the screws don't move.Others speak of the screws and/or nuts stripping, but I have not experienced this problem; just use the proper size screwdriver and wrench, and you're all set.The screws will mark up your receiver though, after a few months of use, and approximately 1000 rounds fired, there are now 4 indents in the receiver where the screws have worn pockets,I consider this a good thing, since it provides more purchase for the screws to hold, and subsequently, more stability.Considering what I paid for this mount, I am very pleased with its performance, although I was a little disappointed that the channels in the sides weren't machined to the proper distance.
