(More customer reviews)I bought mine for a .308 Mauser, and while the idea is simple in idea, it is not in actual application.First, this came with no instructions, just the parts.I had to look up online how to disassemble the rear sight and pop the pin out that the sight pivots on.This mount has 2 separate threaded areas, one on each end.The hex screws in both of these areas are meant to stabilize the sight post to the optimum level.Again, nice in theory, but the front screw is actually over the wood, so you will either have to accept some damage to the wooden stock, or replace the upper portion with a synthetic you don't care about. The front screw does not even extend long enough to get a firm touch on the wood or the barrel underneath either before screwing out of the sight. You can beat this with a longer hex screw (I mean Allen key if you are confused), or placing something under the screw to lift the front up properly (a penny or specially designed insert should you remove the stock under it) to give your scope a proper elevated view.Depending on the scope size too, you can take a dremel (or hacksaw I suppose) and remove some of the forward mounted rail slots to accomodate a scopes large front end.I have more tinkering to do, but I feel this is a successful product and recommend it for others to give a try. With all these little mods, especially with the wood in there and prone to swelling and shrinking, I don't think the would be a great tool for a real long shot, but with solid steels I suppose it would be good enough to get the job done out to a few hundred meters.I will feel much better next deer season looking through a zeroed scope than poor iron sights during the last minutes of twilight.
