First of all this scope is fairly large with a 50mm objective; this means that on some rifles your might need higher scope rings to mount properly, but since every rifle is different, you might need to test on your rifle to see what type of rings that you need. Fortunately rings are not expensive.

This scope has a mil-dot reticle, and once you learn how to use mil-dots, you'll never want to go back to a duplex or simple crosshairs, especially for long range target practice and range estimation.

The reticle can be illuminated by internal LEDs (red or green) and the brightness is controllable by the top-mounted rheostat.I don't use the illuminated reticle often, but sometimes in low light it's very handy. One drawback is that it is easy to forget to turn the illumination off and drain the battery, so be sure to double check before you put your rifle away.

The optical qualities of this scope are generally very good considering the price. At 3x the image is sharp and crisp, and at 9x there is only a slight hint of image softness toward the edges. The large objective keeps the image bright even in diminishing lighting conditions. There is a slight shift in eye relief in going from 3x to 9x, which is common in all but the pricier scopes, but you should make sure it doesn't bother you for your application.

The scope has adjustable eyepiece diopter that seems to go to at least +/- 3, good enough for my eyes. More importantly, this is an AO (adjustable objective) scope, which means that the front lens group can be turned to focus as close 5 yards- great (and necessary) if you are mounting this scope on an air rifle for closer range shooting. The scope is also internally reinforced for mounting on springer air guns, and is rated to withstand the brutal reverse recoil on these guns that can tear other scope apart.

The rings controlling both power (3-9x) and parallax/focus can be a little stiff to to turn, but not overly so. At least they will stay in the position you set them.

The elevation and windage adjustments are easy to set with your fingers (they don't require a coin screw like some other scope), and seem to have plenty range (1/4 MOA).They are protected by screw-off covers.

The scope also comes with a nice metal sunshade that screws on the front, and lens covers for the front and rear that can be aggravating sometimes - they are spring loaded covers that pop open occasionally on their own.

Overall this is a nicely finished, optically very good mil-dot scope that is great for longer range targets, or for mounting on air rifles.Since it is a large scope, it might be slightly unwieldy on small carbines or lightweight rifles where another Leapers scope (the Bugbuster) might be more appropriate.A great value for the money.
