(More customer reviews)When similar rings from other manufacturers run about $150, it makes you wonder what these rings lack to make them so cheap. The answer is; thoughtful engineering and precise fit and finish. The first flaw I noticed was that the screw-holes in the top half of the ring were too small. As I tried to torque them down to proper spec, it was obvious that the threads on some screws were catching on the lip of the screw hole, preventing uniform clamping. This was a reasonably easy fix; I found the drill bit that just fit in a screw hole that was a good diameter, then reamed the screw holes that were too small.I put the rings on a one-piece steel base, then clamped in my Wheeler scope alignment tool. These rings were out of alignment in at least two axes.I honed the rings down until about 90% of the surface of both rings had been contacted by the stone. This gave what appeared to be good alignment.
After the above procedures and careful mounting of my scope, these rings seem to work fine.I have these mounted on a rifle chambered in 300 Ultra Mag which kicks like a SOB and these rings seem to hold on tight.
