Since this scope is designed for a slug gun, it has a very long eye relief, and a very compact design. Great clarity and light transmission, and I love the lifetime warranty. If you follow the instructions for the BDC reticle very carefully, you can make very accurate shots out to 200 yards! Which is incredible for a shotgun slug!

Designed specifically for Sabot slug-gun loads such as the Hornady SST, Remington Copper Solid, Winchester Partition Gold, Federal Premium, and Lightfield Hybrid, the Nikon SlugHunter 3-9x40 riflescope has what it takes to accommodate almost any hunting style. The scope's main features include a multicoated lens system that lets in up to 92 percent of available light, a bullet drop compensating (BDC) 200 reticle that provides a precise 200-yard aiming point, precise 1/4 MOA hand-turn windage and elevation adjustments, and an all-purpose matte black finish. The BDC reticle is perhaps the most compelling feature, as its trajectory-compensating system is designed and calibrated to provide fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances, including 100, 150, and 200 yards. The unique system integrates a series of small "ballistic circles" to produce an unobstructed view of the target.
The scope's high-performance lenses, meanwhile, are coated with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast (to pull game out of its surroundings), deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality. Plus, the SlugHunter scope is ready for years of reliable service thanks to its 100 percent waterproof, shockproof, and fogproof housing. The scope is O-ring sealed and nitrogen filled to ensure that neither fog nor any other kind of moisture penetrates the interior.
