(More customer reviews)I grew up with a Benjamin air rifle. In my opinion it was the best pneumatic gun I ever owned. A very durable, accurate, and reliable gun for a teenager just trying to extinguish some varmints or plinking for fun. My wife purchased this gun for me last year for my birthday. I was so excited to have another Benjamin, I thought I would have another high quality product that I knew I could only get from this brand. I was wrong! While the wooden parts of the gun seemed to be the same natural and sturdy quality I remember, the metal parts, such as the bolt and firing mechanism appeared to be of cheap quality. The gun fired well the few times I used it to get the sight zoned in. I even managed to vanquish a few rats with it. A few months later, while trying to rid my driveway of a rattlesnake, the gun jammed and the bolt could not be pulled back. While trying to pull the bolt back, the gun came apart in 2 pieces, I was holding the upper receiver in one hand and the lower part in the other. I am not a strong man, and I was not applying excessive force. Upon further investigation, I found a screw that holds the gun together to be stripped out. The screw is steel and it was going into aluminum. Not a very good design when you have a softer metal held together by a harder one. I attempted to return the gun, it was still under warranty. After locating a gun shop, with the help of Crosman, the company that now owns Benjamin, I sent it off. I was called a few days later by the gunsmith and told that because the gun was taken apart, the warranty was voided. I explained that the gun wasn't taken apart, it fell apart! He wanted $80 just to take a look at the gun and find the problem. I told him just to keep the gun. It had already cost me $20 just to ship the piece of junk to him. I will never own another Benjamin, nor will I ever recommend this brand to anyone else. The quality of materials and craftsmanship just aren't in this brand any more!
